Crashed when the sun was goin' down, got up at 11:00 PM, so as to enjoy about four hours of complete darkness. I took a walk out back, made a carrot cake from scratch with raisons, walnuts, pineapple, and there were quite a few raw carrot strips in it. The cream cheese frostin' was awesome. I wasn't goin' to start on lunch, since it wouldn't take that long, and we wanted it fresh made. With all of us workin' on it, a half hour to prepare, and the same to cook. Amazin' how much a kilogramme of morels cost. We'd have those with jasmine rice, and a ton of sesame oil, wokked veggies includin' baby corn, green beans, sliced baby carrots, water chestnuts, broccoli florets, spinach, red bell peppers, snow peas, shiitakes, again in a ton of sesame oil, with a wee bit o' teriyaki sauce. We used that over plain soy sauce on everythin'. We all agreed it tasted better. Then there was garlic spinach, and garlic mashed potatoes with butter sauce, and garlic bread dough with tons of garlic pieces, garlic powder, butter, extra yeast and fresh dill, was all ready to be baked. My mentor had thrown that together, and it would be baked later. It was a cross culture mish-mash, and what else was new? Those burners and that oven would be worked over today. I'm just glad it was so cool. Cookin' on a hot day didn't mix well with me.
I wish the ponies, the horse and cats were here, but at the same time I'm glad they weren't. I wouldn't want them to suffer the slightest discomfort from the radioactive contamination which was a bit worse than the conventional media was admittin' to. Hey! Infant mortality had skyrocketed on the coast. No, not good for Chinese style soups. Too sullied from the plutonium, cesium, whatever. Sorry, Mullethead.
I'd have the fire burnin', and a pot o' Earl Grey steepin' for when my two loves came down. That would be around 6:00 AM. I also had a bit of rose incense on the hearth, and a bit extra to throw in the fire for a moment of 'noscular' pleasure. It would be a day of ritual, along with tomorrow. Then I think I'd need the 22nd to recover. My housemates had it in for me, and they made no secret of it. . .not that this was a bad thing. Just a byproduct of bein' of the Tuatha peoples, and this bein' a holiday for us.
Oh, and this is a list o' links for cannibalism in China:
